So You Think You Want to Run for the Board of Education?
There is a lot involved with being a member of a local school board. Board members need to collaborate in setting a district's direction for the future to ensure that current and future students have access to a world-class education.  The Allegan Area Educational Service Agency (AAESA) is offering an informational workshop for those interested in serving on a local Board of Education.

The free workshop will take place on Wednesday, June 22 at 7:00 p.m. at AAESA, 310 Thomas Street in Allegan. Being a member of a Board of Education is an important and rewarding position. This workshop is designed to prepare prospective candidates on the realities of serving their communities on a Board of Education prior to filing a petition for election.

Topics of discussion will include:

*         Election Law-Dos and Don'ts

*         Timelines for filing

*         Requirements of Serving

*         Roles and Responsibilities of Board Members

*         Brief Overview of School Finance

*         Michigan Association of School Boards and Other Avenues for Useful Information
To register please contact Shelby Bill at 269-512-7706 or sbill@alleganaesa.org<mailto:sbill@alleganaesa.org>.
