Students of the Month
Each month, Fennville Public Schools is proud to recognize one outstanding student from our Elementary, Middle, and High School as our Students of the Month. These students have demonstrated exceptional character, a positive attitude, leadership, perseverance, and a commitment to learning. Congratulations to each of our honorees—we are proud of your accomplishments and the positive example you set for your classmates and our school community!

Bailee Smothers was nominated because she exemplifies our kindness theme.
She is always mindful of others and shows empathy toward both her classmates and teachers.
Bailee is thoughtful, caring, and willing to share ideas about how we can show kindness to others.
She truly helps make our classroom and school a kinder place.

Returning to Fennville Middle School this year, Santiago Suarez has made an immediate impact through his positive attitude, strong work ethic, and kindness toward others. After attending Corpus Christi School in Holland, he returned to the community where his family has roots, and he quickly became a valued member of the FMS family.
A talented soccer player, Santiago is part of an outstanding 8th grade team that has played and trained together for years. He values teammates who push one another to improve every day and credits the team's close bond for their success.
Teachers describe Santiago as respectful, responsible, hardworking, and engaged in class. He participates, asks thoughtful questions, follows expectations, and consistently demonstrates a positive attitude. He was quickly moved into accelerated math after demonstrating his strong math skills. Santiago appreciates the family atmosphere at Fennville and is grateful to be recognized by his teachers and peers.
Congratulations, Santiago, on being our September Student of the Month!
“Santi has been a model student and has thoroughly earned this award.” — Mr. Eder
“He is a joy to have in class and a welcomed addition to Fennville Middle School.” — Mrs. Lorence

Fennville High School is proud to recognize senior Jakym Fraire as our September Student of the Month! Jakym is a hard worker in and out of the classroom, maintaining excellent grades here at FHS and he is also currently enrolled in the Engineering, Electronics, and Robotics program at the Allegan Tech Center. Mr. Hutchins nominated Jakym and said the following about him in his nomination: “Jakym has been such a good communicator over the first couple of weeks at school. He has also really taken the opportunity to engage in the activities offered to him (college visits, job visits, etc.). He carries a lot of weight on his shoulders, including working pretty much every day after school at McDonalds. At the RAF Electric career visit he was incredibly engaged, asked relevant questions about certification and also engaged in conversation with both of his classmates on the trip; including a really nervous 9th grade student, making sure she felt included.”
Here at FHS, Jakym enjoys all of his math classes, as math comes naturally to him and he enjoys the subject. After high school, Jakym plans to join the workforce while also working on a college degree and additional certifications. If he could give any advice to a student just starting at Fennville, he would tell them to take advantage of all of the opportunities available here at FHS, as most people don’t know about them.
Congratulations Jakym, Fennville is proud of you!
