Dominic Lawrence - Varsity Football
Varsity football player of the week is Dominic Lawrence. Dom has a never die attitude and shows up ready to work on a daily basis! These qualities help him to be a success on the field and in the classroom but more importantly they will help him to have success in life! A true leader on and off the field, including the classroom, he never misses practice and carries himself with class and pride exhibiting what it is to be a Blackhawk! - Coach Hughes

Dominik Bailey - JV Football
Dominik Bailey is the definition of a team-first player and a great leader by example. He does whatever is asked of him and does it at a high level, while also holding his teammates accountable through his actions and work ethic. One of Dom's biggest strengths is his consistency. He is there for every summer workouts, every practice, every game, and even takes the time to help out at Varsity games. All the while, maintaining his GPA and excelling academically. Even when dealing with an injury that sidelined him, Dom continued to show up during the summer to support and motivate his teammates. Players like Dom are a huge part of what makes a team successful. His commitment, leadership, and willingness to put the team first makes a difference every day. We're proud to recognize Dominik Bailey as our Athlete of the Week! - Coach Rogers and Maatman

Stella Michele - Varsity Volleyball
Stella has been used as both a DS and Serving Specialist this season. She has had several matches with 100% serving percentage and the best cumulative serving percentage on the team this season at 93%. She has also come in with clutch performances behind the service line at game point many times. She recovers quickly from her mistakes and when she's not on the court, she's the loudest on the sidelines cheering her teammates on and trying to keep our energy high and her teammates positive. Not only is Stella an asset to our team, she is also an exceptional student who maintains a high academic standing throughout the year. - Coach Rebecca and Coach Morgan

Cati Ortiz-Hernandez - JV Volleyball
Cati has really grown this year both in skill and confidence. She is quick to fix her mistakes, and she retains the information taught to her really well. She is supportive of her teammates and has been one of our clutch hitters on the right side when we need her the most. She has opened up our offense and kept us in some rallies when we fall out of system. Grateful to have her on our team! - Coach Hutchins

Caroline Waters - Freshmen Volleyball
Caroline takes on every challenge and runs with it! She brings fire, energy, and positivity both on and off the court. She has grown tremendously this season, embracing new positions, listening, and constantly finding ways to improve. Whether she's making a play, hyping up her teammates, or lending a helping hand, Caroline leads by example and makes those around her better. We're proud of the growth, heart, and energy she brings to this team! - Coach Nyland

student athletes of the week
Gabe Gonzalez - Varsity Soccer
Gabe is one of our senior captains this season, not just for his leadership and hard work during games and trainings, but also for the way he carries himself in the classroom and the community. Gabe has played extremely well in the first few games, controlling the back line for us, and coming up with big stops time and time again. He has led a defense that has only surrendered 5 goals in 7 games. The energy that he brings, and the determination he plays with helps make his teammates around him better. We are proud of your efforts Gabe on and off of the pitch, keep up the good work! - Coach Nev

Eusebio Solis - JV Soccer
So far this season, Eusebio Solis has ben a standout freshman on the team. He consistently works hard, gives great effort, and never gives up on a play. Eusebio has excellent vision and a strong ability to read the field, allowing him to anticipate and understand the game on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. I have been especially impressed with how well he has worked within the team during the start of the season. He is a dedicated player who brings a strong work ethic and positive attitude to both practices and games. His effort, field awareness, and willingness to compete have made him a valuable contributor to the team already as a freshman. - Coach Gray

student athletes of the week
Joseph Banda - 8th Grade Soccer
Joseph has been a great example of a student-athlete. He is respectful, helpful, and always maintains a positive attitude. He works hard every day, listens well to instructions, and is very coachable - developing into a strong leader on and off the field. In addition to his dedication on the field, Joseph has maintained solid academics throughout the two seasons I have coached him. I am very glad to have him in our soccer program and we know he will continue to grow as both an athlete and a student. - Coach Marco

Skyler Brown - 7th Grade Soccer
I chose Skyler as a Student-Athlete of the Week because he has consistently been a great example of staying positive and optimistic, especially on game days. No matter the situation or how the game is going Skyler continues to encourage his teammates and reminds them to keep playing at the level we know they are capable of. That attitude shows his ability to lead by example and is one of the main reasons I selected him. I have also had no concerns with his grades, and I hope his teammates can look at his example as motivation for what it means to be a strong student-athlete and word towards becoming the next Student-Athlete of the Week. - Coach Marco
