Fennville Public Schools Board of Education
The Fennville Public Schools Board of Education is comprised of 7 members elected every two years to six-year terms. Board meetings take place regularly in the Board of Education room, which can be found in the central administration building (old Anna Michen Elementary).
Tobias Hutchins, Board President
Toby is a 2011 graduate of Fennville High School. After graduating, he went on to earn a bachelor's degree from Grand Valley State University in 2014 and a master's degree in higher education from the University of Michigan in 2017. He currently works for Lake Michigan College Upward Bound as their Pre-College Coordinator/Advisor and has also worked as an adjunct professor at Grand Rapids and Muskegon Community Colleges.
Natalie Bustillos, Trustee
Paul Hapke, Trustee
Paul Hapke is the Fire Chief of Fennville Area Fire Department. He graduated from Fennville High School Class of 1999. He is married to Rebekah Hapke who also graduated from Fennville High School. His oldest son, Ethan graduated from Fennville High School last year and his two youngest Bryce 6 and Isabelle 4 currently go to Fennville Elementary.
Juliet Michele, Trustee
Juliet Michele moved to Fennville in 2003. She and her husband built a home and started a successful small business while also starting a family. Their two children have both gone to school in Fennville since preschool and are now in 4th and 7th grade. Juliet is a strong supporter of public schools and community engagement.
Ross Thiele, Board Secretary
Ross is a high school math and physics teacher at Hartford High School. He has his master’s degree from Grand Valley State University in Educational Leadership 2013. He and his family have lived in Fennville since 2009. His wife Stacy is a Spanish and ESL teacher for Fennville and their two children are currently attending the elementary.
Manuel Sanchez, Board Vice President
Rico Ponce, Trustee
Rico is married to Rebecca Ponce and has three kids in FPS; Ricky in High School, Melody in Middle School, and Xóchitl in Elementary. He has a total of 25 of nieces and nephews attending Fennville Public Schools! Rico was born in Mexico and in 1993 had the privilege, honor and fortune to be able to move to the US with my parents and siblings; he was 13 years old. He graduated from Fennville in 1998, went to KVCC and transferred to GRCC for Business Administration.
