Eligibility: Fennville HS Senior

Criteria: Any field of study

This scholarship is for any field of study. It is provided by Lucille and Hershel Wolfgang and Lucille’s sister, Anna, and Ival Wade.  Both families were long time area farmers in Fennville.  While neither had children of their own, they wanted to establish an academic scholarship that would be given to a Fennville High School graduate pursing a 4-year degree.

Citizenship and leadership

This scholarship is for any field of study and given to a student with demonstrated qualities of good citizenship and civic leadership.  It is provided by the families of Janice and Edward Hutchinson.  Janice and Edward were lifelong residents of Fennville and lived in the big white house on the corner of M-89 and 58^th street.  Edward was a United States Representative in Washington DC.  Janice was always a champion of children and education even though she and Edward never had children of their own.  The Hutchinson family requests that the recipient show the qualities of both good citizenship and civic leadership just as Janice and Edward exemplified all their lives.

This scholarship is for any field of study. It is provided by Donald and Thelma Dickinson.  Donald was the owner of Dickinson Hardware downtown Fennville for many years and was involved with kids and the school.  Thelma was on the School Board in the 1950’s when the middle school was being built.

Criteria: Pursuing a degree in degree in Education

This scholarship is for a student pursing a degree in education. It is provided by Mary Wark.  Mary was a daughter of poor immigrants.  She became a teacher at a Fennville country school at a young age.  As a young unmarried teacher, Mary lived with a family who paid her for helping in the household by giving her stock in their company.  She never cashed them in, and she left a trust to the Fennville Education Foundation to help students intending to pursue higher education in the teaching field.

Criteria: 3^rd Year ECAC Student

This scholarship is for a student in the ECAC Program in their 3rd year of the program pursuing any field of study.  It is provided by the Hartsuiker family.  Pete Hartsuiker was the owner of West Michigan Flocking in Fennville.  He also owned Mini-Made Services. Pete could not afford to go to college but was committed to making sure his daughter, Chris (FHS Class of 1976) could. His family gifted the Fennville Education Foundation funds to ensure more Fennville graduates can attend college.

This scholarship is for any field of study.  The Bill and Rose Dalton scholarship was established by their son Bill Jr. and his wife Judy.  In 1950, Bill and Rose left Detroit shortly after they were married and moved to Fennville to become fruit farmers even though they knew very little about farming at the time.  They spent a lifetime farming and worked side by side for nearly 60 years making Dalton Orchards a success.  The family wants Fennville graduates to love their chosen profession as much as the Dalton’s did and to remember that perseverance pays off.

Criteria: Pursuing a degree in Business or Art

This scholarship is for a student pursing a degree in business and art.  It is provided by Robert and Luetta Crane, and it was their intention to provide a scholarship for two students, one for a student pursuing an art degree and a second student pursuing a business degree. Luetta was a self-taught artist and wished for more education.  The Cranes were a self-taught business family.

This scholarship is for any field of study at a college located in Michigan. It is provided to Fennville graduating seniors “who desires a college education”.  This scholarship is based on scholastic ability, personality, seriousness of purpose, dependability, health, and ability to socially adjust. This scholarship was established in 1958 by Fennville resident, Josephine Shepard Wade, to assist graduates of FHS to attend college in Michigan.  An interesting part of this scholarship is that it specifically states that it be awarded to an equal number of boys and girls, which was quite progressive for 1958.

This scholarship is for a student pursing a degree in building trades, construction, welding, HVAC, and electrical. This scholarship is established on behalf of the Moeller family.

Related fields of study can include auto mechanics.

This scholarship is for a student pursing a degree in law enforcement, conservation, or firefighting.   Students can also qualify if they have an immediate family member who was honorably discharged from the Armed Forces of the U.S. (please include proof of military service).

This scholarship is given in memory of Robert Sayen. While Bob wasn't a lifelong Fennville resident, he certainly made Fennville his home; attending band concerts, athletic events, and all things Fennville until his passing. Despite never receiving education after high school, Bob thrived in the Napa auto parts world; he became one of the top 5 salesmen for Napa in the country. ​ This scholarship is provided by Tobias Hutchins, Fennville school board president and 2011 FHS alumni. This recipient should be someone who has a profound sense of community pride and is interested in business ventures of any sort.

This scholarship is for a student pursing a degree in art or music.  It was established in honor of Marie Nichols.

This scholarship is for a student pursing a degree in agriculture or a related field of study.  It was established in honor of Trevor Nichols.

This scholarship is for a student pursing a degree in math or science.  This scholarship was established in memory of Laddie Mesyar, a 1961 graduate of Fennville High School, by the Paul Meysar family.

This scholarship is for any field of study at a college, university or technical school located in Michigan.  Mrs. Hazel Cheadle established this scholarship in memory of her mother, who was a teacher in Allegan County for many years.  This scholarship is based on SAT scores, financial need, scholastic ability, dependability, personality, ability to socially adjust and seriousness of purpose.

This scholarship is for any field of study at a college located in Michigan.  It is provided by the Chuck’s family.  Chuck was a Fennville graduate.  Consideration is given for scholastic ability, GPA, and financial need.

This scholarship is for a student pursuing any field of study.  It is provided by the graduating class of 2008. The class wishes to provide this scholarship to a graduating senior who exhibits a strong display of community service and community and school involvement.  This student has demonstrated a desire to help others in need.

Qualities of hard work and sacrifice

This scholarship is for any field of study or trade/technical school. This can also be for a CDL license. It is provided by Gustavo Almanza Sifuentes and his wife, Yolanda Almanza Hernandez, as well as both children, Gustavo Almanza Jr. & Valeria Alexis Almanza. Both children are graduates of Fennville High School and were 1st generation college students who received a BA from Western Michigan University. Gustavo and Yolanda established residency in Fennville when both of their parents immigrated from Mexico for a better life in 1977. They built their ranch from the ground up since arriving here with nothing but the hard work that their parents instilled in them. Since 1977, their home and ranch have resided on 113^th Ave. in Fennville.  The Almanza family request that the recipient shows the qualities of hard work and sacrifice just as Gustavo & his family have shown. This scholarship is to honor the memory of Sr. Arturo Almanza.

Criteria: Accepted to Hope College

This scholarship is for a student pursuing any field of study at Hope College. The funds from this scholarship will cover tuition for 1 year at Hope College. This scholarship was established by Mr. Clifford E. Paine as a memorial to Mryrtie and Ethelyn Paine. Mr. Clifford Paine, a native of Fennville, attended Hope College from 1906-1907. The scholarship is awarded to one graduating senior from Fennville High School. All interested students should apply for admission to Hope College by their application deadline to be considered for the scholarship. The qualified student will be awarded the scholarship based on high school academic course load, performance in the classroom, SAT score, and an on-campus interview with the admissions staff. The recipient is chosen by Hope College admissions staff.

This scholarship is for any field of study and given to any student planning to attend full time in a college, university, or trade school. This scholarship is provided by the Michigan Masonic Dutcher Lodge in Fennville.

This scholarship is for any field of study.  The Hustle and Harmony Scholarship is designed to identify graduating seniors who exemplify the character and qualities that Coach and Ada Morehead have so consistently and selflessly demonstrated to Fennville Public Schools and the community.  Criteria: student is active in a church or church youth group, active in community service, and must be a participant in athletics. Student must have a 2.5 GPA or higher.  Students need to submit a letter of recommendation from a pastor or youth pastor describing his/her active role in the church or youth group. Students need a 2^nd letter of recommendation from another adult describing their role in community service. Please provide a completed H&H application as well as a transcript.

The Terry Laraway Memorial Fund was established in 2008 as a means of providing athletic opportunities to children of Pullman and Lee Township. This fund has purchased soccer goals, a sprinkler system, bleachers, little league equipment, uniforms along with registration fees, basketball camps, and AYSO soccer scholarships. The goal of the committee is to provide enrichment and to help develop social skills. Terry was a champion of youth sports in Pullman and was very dedicated to Bloomingdale Public Schools’ athletics and the advancement of our youth.  The Terry Laraway Memorial Committee is providing scholarships to graduating seniors who meet the criteria listed below. This is meant to help with college tuition and expenses. Four, $500.00, non-renewable, scholarships will be announced at Honors Night.

Gun Lake Casino strives to be an active partner in the community through its Scholarship Program. This scholarship’s purpose is to provide financial support to Allegan County students that are pursuing higher education. A scholarship is provided for one high school student from each of the Allegan County high schools.

4. 2^nd letter of recommendation needs to be from a volunteer supervisor who comments on your character and participation in your volunteer experiences.
5. Be sure to list your volunteer and active memberships in school, church, and community organizations as well as work, honors, and extracurricular activities on your resume.
