FHS Students aide growth of Allegan County Teens

Fennville High School students Sara Skinner, Kiana Scholten, Carly Mokma, and Jennifer Banda join select students from around Allegan County as a part of the advisory council for the Teens Aiding Growth (TAG) Team. This team and the county non-profit organization work to provide programs and services that directly impact youth in our county.

The TAG team members are gearing up to begin reviewing the 2023 TAG grant applications. TAG grant applications are open to any Allegan County non-profit that has a program or service that directly impacts youth. The team has $75,000 available to give out in 2023 grants. To prepare for the upcoming grant review, students traveled to county non-profit organizations as well as participated in a mock grant review session. During the review time, students looked at the needs and wants of their peers and what their funding priorities for this grant cycle were. They then reviewed mock applications and through peer-to-peer discussion decided which mock applications to proceed with.

The TAG members also adopted families in need and provided items for the holiday season through Sylvia's Place. We are proud of our Blackhawks and all other area teens for their work in helping Allegan County be a better place.
